From the Farm
15 January 2011
Got a small feed of wild blackberries (lots to ripen) today while shifting sheep to a new paddock. This is really good and really bad. It is good because lots of blackberries in about two weeks, but blackberry time marks kids back to school and Ila has been so good with her cooking. She loves it so does Ruth i can tell you. Ila has been cooking goat for a change (one of our young Nubians i butchered). Its been really good.
We have been oiling the pigs with sunflower oil to clear them of lice so every day when i feed them they run for food and i put oil on as many as I can. Just two to go and they are very wary. But i'll get 'em.
Been crushing wheat for the young chickens each day. Got our sheep in and got lambs away for the Bach restaurant carted them early in the week.
We are keeping the donkeys shifted every 4 days so they keep up with the thistles and other weeds.
Took Ila and Samuel shopping for clothes etc - in the end Ruth and i went for a coffee and left them to it. None of this walk in and buy walk out - no do i look good in this or maybe this no that i do like that aaaarrrr.
We did call in on Dee to sort courses for this year and the line up is looking good (I still have blooming bookwork to do and you know how i love it).
Dee and Dave's Organic farm is looking great and real. Yes i mean real... real natural... real organic ...real certified organic... not of this tin pot, sort of, nearly... But Certified Organic Farm run by hard working people.
From there i called at Jamie the hatcher, looks as if he will be doing our hatching next season to give us more time.
Well gotta go and get back to it. See Ya Sunday .......john
