From the Farm

We have spent the week looking for a good site for Ruth's house. We have some great building sites on the farm but we are not sure if we will shift something on or build new. Need water and services, that limits the site. Finance is of course another control. But me being a carpenter and Ruth very practical, we will get it right.
I have got the solar panel fitted to the house truck, and its now charging the battery. I have fitted one LED light just in time for Daisy and Ila to spend another two days in the Truck. Daisy has been back to Bournmouth UK for three weeks, where it was cold and flooded, and you had to wear Wellingtons in all the shops. I'm sure she was glad to be back. It also gave Ila a chance to try her new horse Rar that she got from Wally, so with Daisy on Tim and Ila on Rar they did a good trek. Rar is a 5 year old gelding, ex trotter, black. I am very tempted to put him in harness. He would go to Stratford and back no problem. The market at New Plymouth would be a bit far. But that would help the ever rising fuel bill.
Talking of horses, we have both the Donkeys and the Gypsie ponies on the front paddocks in view of the house. Its great to have the stock in view.
There are lots of ducklings and chooks hatching, but we have still to trap stoats, and yesterday Daisy and Ila saw a ferret. About the same time I was in the workshop, and across the floor ran a weasel hunting mice. Would have made a fantastic video. And for those who don't know the difference between all these mustelids, they are weasely identified and stoatally different
Just got back from next door as a cow crossed the Makuri and was in Carls paddock so I had to bring all the cattle around the road to pick her up as her calf was on the other side and one of them would have drowned going either way.
The Taranaki Farmers Market was not so bad. It was Siets last day, she is welcome back.
We have a volunteer Nerida who comes with her own house on wheels.
