So out with my Shndaiwa chainsaw on the ute with an ally ladder logging chain to chop the BIG branches off the trees and fell a few to get Ruth's building up the road and I only have 2 hours. These are Tasmanian blackwoods and are very brittle. I fell one large one back into the paddock and lean the ladder against the second one so I can trim the branches I get half way though the first one near a foot fat and crack SNAP just falls free off the tree the hinge wood non existent now smashing into the ladder (which is for building not tree work). With the saw at full revs I just managed to hang on to the tree 14 feet in the air and saved myself being another statistic. With that towed the heavy branch off the road with the ute and chain and went to get Ruth. Whats wrong with you john you have been felling trees for years !! all right I will come and help clear the road. Yes you got it the rest was a piece of cake and with half an hour to spare Sandy drove up the road with the classroom on the back (its the size of a small house) using the hydraulic trailer to lift it over the 6 foot high gate posts that are the entrance to the 100 acres and proceeded to drive the Kenworth up the long winding track to close to the highest place on the farm. This was helped with a large tractor and winch. After 5 hours it was in place the track much worse for wear (I don't think we will be using that track for a bit). I say in place it was sort of but Ruth wanted to get inside to make sure the view was in the right direction. This proved very hard for her as it was very overcast and you could not see the mountain so after pulling this angle and that she put her thumb up and all the workers cheered. SHE HAS MADE HER MIND UP. (Well it was a time and lots of moving). Anyway I think its sited well and I'm not shifting it that's for sure as its on piles and tied down now and that needed doing well as it can sure blow up where it is.
And then the rain started again with heavy thunder and lighting so when the truck and support trucks and tractors went down the long track it was finished for sure. It has not stopped raining since and my mate Bruce sent me an email
HAY john Don't worry about the rain it will come right in 3 months or so ....Knew I should be building a boat for the two by two rarebreeds ...
We did get a break for a well needed Frost........( yer Right ) but it did line up a good day for Dee's organic course visit ..And then onto the March against MONSANTO where Myself and Dee did our Speech the John and Dee Show that was well received. What a fantastic thing that was near 300 people many of the people main stream.
Well today it has turned super cold and wet and it feels like its going to snow I know it is down the line so maybe ..I suppose it is Winter next week and we are in the last week of Autumn. As if on Q it turns cold and the Dorset Horns start lambing ..No worries they are a great breed of sheep and can take it.
