I just can't believe this winter its like its on fast forward................. warm, the grass is growing. The herb garden is up with mints. The early plums are in full blossom. The fodder willows are pushing out leaves as are the bamboo and to top off the great weather an earth quake or two, just to keep us out of control.
Ross has been out to line up the new rifle a 7mm and he must have done a good job as today he has brought a fallow deer out to cut up. Now the poor old trustee 1941 303 i would say will stay in the rack. Thats what happens when you get old you get replaced with a smaller bore.
We were having lunch around the table and Ross said is that mist or a fire up in the pines. Took me a few minutes to click it was ...Pine pollen thick and yes just like smoke. Must be the fast forward winter.
August the Canadian Woofer is fitting in real well getting to know the running of the place. Has become Ila and Jess's friend often going out with them. He is getting into cooking and today cooked a great meal with our sausages Toad in the hole.
The two Asian Girls left a day ago, I am positive they will never forget Avonstour as they have done so many things totally out of their comfort zone as they both came from the big city never been on a farm, never not had cell phone coverage, never been without the Internet, never cooked any thing, never had to light a fire.
I asked them to light the fire in the Pyroclassic !!!!!!! Well they put 2 logs in (wet ) with a small bit of newspaper on top put a match to it and came and got me ...

I said girls you want to hope you are never ship wrecked as you will never survive on an island ......Umm ship wreck ummm Jon we can't swim........

Nice people Just so away from the natural world i spoze like 99% of the worlds population.
One of the things that get me, i always ask what music our Wwoofers like and the usual answer is some UK or USA singer or band. So its world wide no wonder local musicians, crafts/art people and local foods find it so hard ...Just think about it turn on the radio how many Taranaki( /NZ even) artists come on .NONE
why.... NO support ...same with all other local.
Well the first Gotland lambs this morning a set of twin ewe lambs. And Hilary the Euro wild sow has had a litter of 8.
