You know how it is, you just want to get the job done, well we just have to, it will be raining in the morning and we need another load of builders mix, don't think we will get the septic tank finished and once it rains we won't get the yellow truck up here. O well keep mixing Ila, Ruth said she would go and get another .....Um what is the time 5 to 3 blooming heck we are out of time for the gravel pit. I will go now, roaring off in my old yellow Daihatsu truck down the hill onto the road ....Man I've not much time ..put yer foot down ..on the road past the farm, up the saddle down the other side ....What is this all over the road skinned possums Heaps of them, Some dick has dumped them on the road along with beer cans and bottles .. And the road signs and all shot full of holes .....That one and thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaT onnnnnne .......blooming heck I'm in the water table ....O no i heading into the drain ...Funny how you think ..I'm doing a 100 I will put my foot to the floor and pull back onto the road yep no prob be at the pit in no time ....all this at 45 degrees and going like a jet boat water flying out the back .... after 120 yards i stopped ....going nowhere ...right get home get the ute and the Gipsy only a 5 kilometre run and get this pulled out i still have time to get the load ...Get home totalled ..Come on you lot just get moving get the chains I'm in the drain i can still get the load ...No don't argue come on move it .......will need the gipsy and the ute I will take the ute ....Right chains tight together low 4wd ...with much skidding out the truck came brown mud dirty but fine ....But the time 5:05 ...so home we drove me somewhat deflated but in one piece more sore from the run home. O well the septic tank will just have to wait.
The next day i was talking to Carl next door ....Hi John did you see all those dead possums on the road along with empty beer cans and all the road signs shot up ....yes i did ..well you know Phil had a cow get out on the road and that was shot as well 5 shots to the head and just left there shot for the fun of it ..... Now when the farmers out here catch the hoons that did this I would hate to be them.
All of this was on a very clear night we have had very clear days as well, the mountain with a good snow covering but so clear and looking the other way Ratapiko in full view.
I delivered the Hemp seeds to Egmont seeds for cleaning after toast masters Friday morning also picking up Ruth's Demo yard buys for the week.
We had Jim the Vet out to dock a pony and a few donkeys that have been sold. Jim the vet has always done my docking I have known him for maybe 30 years. He likes calling out here as we all get on. Ila is a great help for this. He did say he was the main horse and pony vet and the vets back at the depot had a saying Quote "a horse is the only livestock with a bum hole both ends" so you can deal with those owners Jim. I'm glad we are not in that category at least.
The donkeys have been picked up and in their new homes and great owners I'm sure.
After a slow market Sunday we went to the Folk house to listen to the local music and see the narrated film Snapper sandwich made by Tony Burt ....Tony not only narrated but played the music for the film.. It took us on a trip to Australia to see the old native people go back to regeneration burning of the land, from there to the snow storms in Wellington, to the seabed protests in Wellington. From there to the fight with NPDC over the camp sites and baches in Urenui. This was a large portion of the work and a look at Kiwi life. I have to say it was a fantastic presentation that touched the hearts of us all packed in.
The filming was stunning along with the whole night.
