In the year of the family farms.....
I'm sitting here on the 13th and i've got near nothing done today first thing I was in New Plymouth at the Mico plumbing shop to get the plumbing pipes and fittings for the Studio got all the gear, went to start up and the key would not turn. Just would not move at all it was like it was the wrong key. After much swearing and cursing i was about to give up after half an hour of wriggling this way and that the key turned and the ute started, I was just about to call the tow truck. Then a stop in Inglewood and i turned off and took the key out. The split second i did that i knew i should have left it going, Yep you got it 45 minutes later i got it going and home. Very late and lots to do ..Turn the computer on 211 emails as i was away all weekend
and just could not download any..... some had sent me some very large files and photos and they would not down load on Dial up .....(YEP I KNOW but we can't get broadband out here and i have tried.)
Spent 3 hours on the mail site and then on hold twice .........THEN i go up to the Studio and all my sheep were out on the road someone left the gate open ....NEXT 13th I'm staying in bed .......
I worked out why i woke up with a sore back ..Ila asked me to trim her donkey feet and the horse she is wanting to sell ...Well he is an ex trotter he is friendly easy to catch a real nice horse just needs someone to love him ..Anyway i was trimming his feet and he started to lean on me at the time it was nothing ,,,but today i don't think i will be shearing ...well not this week.
Ila and Hank have been mustering and sorting sheep most of the week we now have a large ram and ram lamb mob that we will sort through slowly for the best for studs.
The studio has been finished inside on the carpentry side. Ruth has been painting. I have the plumbing to sort and some outside fixing up.
I have just hear that Hellers are going to buy Goodman Fielder. Now i can't see this as good for the NZ farmer as Hellers are the biggest IMPORTER of pig meat into NZ I'm told thousands of tons a year and Goodman Fielder uses at least some NZ pork with the NZ pork label ....Just think about it .This will drive the price of pig meat lower than cost and here lies the problem, NZ farmers are price takers and are told what they get. What other industry other than food could this happen ....the old saying "control the food, control the people" springs to mind.
