From the Farm

You know yes i found it yes found it the plum bud and 5 more in fact. There are 5 blossoms and not only that the rambling rose on the verandah has new shoots as well, maybe its starting.
This week we have had 3 litters of pigs, well four really. Two wessex sows have had 8 and 9, an old large black Devon sow has had 5 X breds and number 4 .... dadda didar drum roll .... a young Euro sow one pig ONE no dead ones just one live female and she was not too fussed with that either, so i have got Sina to rear her on the bottle and give the sow another shot.
As you know we are feeding hay every day and to lighten the load Elton the Mexican Woofer said he would like to help. So i loaded the hay onto the Gipsy and showed him how to fill the sheep racks and the idea is that he fills them with the wheelbarrow and i drive over the back of the farm and feed the cattle and donkeys. So the following day I did my normal house jobs, bed and bread making, emails etc, fed the pigs and loaded the gipsy with fencing gear with the cattle hay on top so I could feed the cattle and donkeys on the way to fencing with Sina and Elton. No Elton. Where had he got to, it cant take that long to feed the sheep. At half past eleven he turned up looking very hot and stuffed, late for smoko. Where have you been Elton? I feed sheeps and cows and donkey (in broken English) with the wheel barrow. THE WHEEL BARROW. Five bales of hay up to the back of the farm on a wheelbarrow up the road past the old school on the tar seal then up the hill on the gravel road and then up the farm track to the back of the farm. This is a long way ... seems he could only get 5 bales to the gravel then unloaded 3 then two up the hill and one to the back of the farm, and then relayed them all to the back. ALL by half past eleven man he must of moved no wonder he was stuffed. We all had a big laugh (and still do). Elton you only have to take a bale to the sheep I feed the rest with the Gipsy sorry i don't speak much Spanish.
Justin the Bobcat came out for two days and wired the outside lights Brett gave us. When they were ready to turn on Justin said "in memory of Brett" and turned them on
(Brett passed away on the same day). Justin also wired in two new hot points and fixed the outside light. This involved much work in the roof. Ruth and I really appreciate it Justin.
We spent some time cleaning and setting out the hall for the Top bar bee course which Marcia ran and Ruth and Ila sorted the food and drinks. We have had great reports back so i think we will do it again and also link it in with other runs of courses Dee and Avonstour will do. Janine and Rod both did the course and stayed over for tea with us and Ross and were away early Sunday. Ross got some more images for the series of photo essays.
We have been bust re digging the farm tracks water tables to save the tracks.
The Wiltshire horns are lambing every day now in full swing. Ruth's goats are still kidding (all kids taken now).
Ila was 16 this week 16 yes 16 unbelievable now she want a party some time.
See Ya Sunday
