O yes i forgot to tell you, on the road last week i stopped at Mokau for a coffee. There was an Irish guy about 65 called me over to sit with him. He said his name was Whiskey. We talked about many things as he was well informed but he also told me something i will never forget. He said i have been staying with dairy farmers down the line, but they are the same the world over ''Tight as Ringo's drumskin''. Anyway he then got up and left saying you won't forget me name its John Walker (Whiskey). So Whiskeys son works at Transfield Worley, so if you know a guy with surname of Walker pass this on.

Bit of a pig week this 7 days. We got the Wessex mob in and i took two into the abattoir to make into bacon and sausage. As this mob is very free range some smaller ones managed to get onto the railway line. Now if you ever need to lose weight I could sell you this plan. Put 3 well grown Wessex weaners on our railway line give em a head start of about 100 metres and off you go to try and get ahead of them in the full sun with your black gumboots on trying to run without tripping over a sleeper or the large hot rocks between them. The faster you run the more noise you make the faster the pigs go. No problem to them they run around outside all the time. At about the one and a half kilometre mark the pigs stop and let you past.  By then you are sweating like one thing the gum boots are full sweat you are very close to a heart attack, But 1.5 KG lighter and you still have to get back. All those lovely people at the market said i looked younger. Thanks i will try and lose more next time.

I ringed lots of the pigs Beate is looking after and she puts them out to roam each day and back to bed at night - they are mostly Euro and the few Canterbury blues, 2 wessex and a large black x. One of the Canterbury Blue sows, Greta, has become so quiet it sits down with Beate and then rolls over for a tummy rub. She thinks a bit less of me as i ringed her.

Not a possum in a trap this week but 4 ferrets. I shot a rabbit and used parts of it for bait and got a female in the small cage trap. Have left her in the cage and feed her every day and set 4 other cage traps around her and have got another one each night. Just think how many ducklings, chooks, birds they would eat in a year no wonder the Kiwi is dying out.

Justin called in on a road trip and stayed the night in the art room, it was good to see him.

The highlight of the week was Samuels birthday. He's blooming 18. Eighteen where did that time go. So Ross, Lois and Beate joined us for a great meal Natalie prepared.
It was a great night we even did the speech thing and talked about things we have done.

So see ya Sunday at the market.
