Im sitting here waiting for the cattle truck to come to take steers away to the abattoir. These are for orders, groups and the farmers market. We got them in last night and the reason im inside on a sunny day is ...........While putting the ID tags in, one went berserk smashed the cattle race and tried to climb out flipping over onto ME. Nothing like a two and a half year very fat steer thrashing around with you in the loading shoot. So im a bit bent today nothing too bad but i aint 20 anymore. (The rodeo is this weekend John ....J). So he's still here and another one is in his place. People don't understand our cattle are not like dairy stock. They are more or less wild, only time i have them in is to get some for meat and that is why the meat is SO good.
Talking of meat I could not work out why i have been so tired. Beate has been helping with the cooking and has been making some fantastic vegetarian meals and salads. And i realized i had not eaten red meat for 10 days. Not good when you are doing 12 hour days. Ross came to the rescue with some venison. Ross has been out helping a bit while he has been photographing for the essay and talking of that there are some big things in the wings i will keep ya posted.
At the beginning of the week i had sheep in for sorting and dagging. Ila helped but had an asthma attack that lasted all week so she had to miss the first week of school. In the end Ruth had to take her thru to New Plymouth. Lets hope she grows out of it.
Justin the Bobcat came and stayed for a few days and got some earth works done for us and then helped at the Market on the Sunday. It was really good as i cant seem to catch up on everything.
Ruth has so many ducks getting ready for Easter, everywhere you look there is a muscovy duck.
So finished the last book and on to a new one AN AGRICULTURAL TESTAMENT Sir Albert Howard 1940 now he knew the real facts.
So See YA SUNDAY
