From the Farm

7 June 2012
I'm sitting in my cold office tonight with the wind blowing and whistling through the window gaps, the rain lashing the windows, its turned so cold so quick the chestnuts have lost all of their leaves. I spent yesterday with Ila shifting the ewes and lambs to a well sheltered hill paddock but i think it won't do the lambs much good either way.
But then its Winter as it started on the first of June.
Lois came out to share tea with us to celebrate Ila getting her licence. It was a great night and a great get-together.
We have got all the donkeys down from the hills and onto the flats so we can give them a pre-winter foot trim, yes i know i'm late its winter already.
We have started feeding out hay and haylage to the donkeys, cattle and also the fattening sheep and lambs, this is very early for us as we usually start on the shortest day when we start feeding the sabbatical fallow but those frosts took a heap of feed so we need to add in the hay.
Went to the region-wide strategy meeting on Sustainable Taranaki - another good meeting I think the seed is planted and now needs to grow.
Have been looking at more houses with Samuel. He sure knows what he wants, spoze its the same as we all want - a 600,000 dollar home for 200,000.
So we are still looking Ha.
