Arrr winter don't ya love it feeding out ........cows mooing, sheep baaing, goats bleating, all wanting a bit of the hay on the Gipsy and here's me loaded up with hay and stuck solid side on against a fence in a short stock race we hold the ponies in to stop em getting too fat with a fence wire wound around the front wheel. The old Austin Gipsy is just about the ultimate 4WD vehicle it just goes anywhere but one thing that stops her is after a run of frosts and then rain if the grass is real short where horses graze there is this fine hummus worm cast layer that is like butter. You can't walk without slipping over and you can't drive on it even on a slight incline and this race runs around a hill and me in low low doing 2.5 miles an hour gently in slow motion going sideways and into the fence. So a walk home for some wire and two chain wire strainers and a shovel - a pull sideways front and back with wire and strainers two trenches to run the wheels in like rail tracks and in a mere 2 hours I'm a feeding out.
The Damara ewes have started lambing with 5 lambs today some brown some white I just love em.
Spend a day doing book work and costs and it works out we have lost on the egg production last season the inputs far greater than return. This job takes Ruth a large part of her day, so we will be putting the price up. Anyway we know our eggs are the best you can buy.
Talking of buying Michelle (the cover girl) said to Ross, Get your back end in gear we are off to the field days to see what's for sale. Its just amazing what some people will do to get to get a photo. So i pick up the Daily News and there they are front page half page photo of the field days. Both off em showing off as usual taking the lime light. Im going to pin that photo up - the best back ends at the field days.
Beate shouted Ruth and i out for her birthday, good aint she. But this is not a normal night out (well normal for her). The Val Deakin Dance studio in New Plymouth put on a stage dance night, theme 1920 and we all had to dress up. So off to Stratford on Stage to hire the gear on Thursday night all looking dapper in 1920 gear (long time since i've seen Ruth in a dress). Beate said I'll buy you a meal at the Club if you go dressed like this. So off to Stratford Club and we got some funny looks. Meal was good anyway. The show at the Val Deakin dance Studio was fantastic a great night.
I put on the top half of the suit for the market the next day with good comments and added a bit of something to the stall. Dropped Justin home and boy that house is getting a good work out, new ceilings and floors she's going to be a flash one. After i had a meeting at Dave's studio with Ross to talk about the next promotion.
So Ila's got the Flu today and has been all day in bed here's hoping we don't get it.
Nothing to report on Samuel's house hunt as yet.
