     Title: 25 October 2012

I keep being asked where has the good weather gone, don’t worry I’m sure it will be back but maybe not this week. The plants and trees are setting up for it, the hawthorns are in flower, the ash and elms have leaves bursting buds and once we have the sweet chestnut in leaf in a few weeks we will get it I’m sure.

The paddocks are covered in wool shed from the Wiltshire horns and Damara sheep and the birds are busy collecting it for nesting. The tails are falling off the docked sheep and the harrier hawks are feeding off them. Good job as it keeps them away from the new ducklings and chickens that are coming out.

Yes and here is some good news our HEMP licence has come thru so we are onto getting the seed and in the ground it will go, the pigs have got the paddock well ripped up.

Ila and now Ruth have fallen with the flu going around sore joints and all the other flu things, Ruth had to drive Ila to New Plymouth as her asthma was so bad.

Jamie and I helped Janine shift onto her piece of land - Janine’s car was loaded, Rod's ute and tandem trailer were packed, my ute was loaded with all the garden tools and the big truck was bulging but got it all in one trip. I was very impressed with the land and buildings and I’m sure Janine and Rod will get it into a very self-sufficient permaculture unit. It faces north, good paddocks with bush and bush walks.

When I picked Jamie up he had made a lid for my big oval camp oven. I would say it’s better than a new one. It will be in use this weekend.

Have just about finished the toilet for the house truck and have pre-cut one for the waggon and then Beate said you really need one for the railway cart people that start soon. Its great getting back to carpentry work but I don’t know about this shit house work HA.

You missed a good sale of meat at the market last week but don't worry we have a sale on organic chickens this week.
