Title: 5 February 2011
Lots of baby wild rabbits around at the moment must be all the dry weather as they don't like the wet. So as long as they stay out of the garden they will stay out of the pot for a while. We will just let them grow a bit.
Samuel got two young possums in the apple trees (told you they were teenagers ) the fur went in the big bag that got sold later in the week for car petrol.
Mother air bag has been using the car and still teaching Samuel to drive as he still has to get his licence.
Ruth has put scrim around a small paddock and mixed and moved a lot of chickens into it to harden them off so she can get them running out on the flat. She has all breeds and sizes together now some for keeping others for the market.
Ila has been fishing in one of our ponds and has been catching perch. Along with bantam eggs and a few wild mushrooms we have been getting cooked a good dinner. The next day she cooked a nice chicken dish out of some young bantams I plucked which we ate with some self sown heritage spuds she dug.
Mid week both Samuel and Ila went back to school. So that's the end of the cooking and farm help for a while homework ARRGH.
Still working on the sheep yards - the quick fix for shearing was not a good look - bailing twine, sacks, Ilas dog collar.
As i said no kids and the blackberries are ready so each day Ruth milks her goat down at the Makuri and picks enough for tea they are great. Just got to find time to get some frozen for winter and give some to Patricia for jam.
Have shorn the odd rams that missed the shearer as we don't like them in the shed with the ewes, end up with x bred lambs.
GOT the Austin Gipsy back YAY but had to sort which job to do with it first.
Have been doing accounts in and out, that's about it, in one day out the next. Calls and emails for the market and a Rarebreed phone meeting.
Have had a bit of interest in the land we are selling phone calls and e mails. A very nice family looked at it early in the week with two young kids and a interesting lifestyle.
Lots of visitors this week, sales men, stock agents, an evangelist. Not sure which were better. Aaron did call to get his aviary with a friend, good to see him. We did have an interesting visit from a company wanting stock to fill an order for Donkeys. Hope it pans out as we have the payment sorted for some of the farm kitchen. We will see.
So See Ya Sunday.
