Well what a rain! Up came the Makuri stream, over the flats it went - this is winter stuff not mid summer. But the grass you could just about see it growing. Been a really busy week.

Had to go down to Hawera to look at a car for Samuel yes he brought it a Honda 4 door with air bags. Ruth said no air bags no car so Samuel now calls his mother air bag. Anyway no worries he is lending it to her until he makes the money to run and insure it .So he has a lot of work to find before school next week.
We took Ila to her second visit to the orthodontist - the new one that Rex the Lavender man told us about, Betty at Taranaki Orthodontist - only another two years to keep going HA .

The sun came out Ila planted her lemon and lime trees her friends got her for her birthday and has built surrounds around them .

Got the Dorset Horn flock down, tagged and recorded the lambs we got in December and put them in the back paddock . Got home checked the answer phone Paul Avery
on it 'Got a free day tomorrow and the next day can shear the sheep ' PANIC yards in pieces, gates half made, sheep in back paddock, woolshed in hell of a mess,
So we all got stuck yards sort of sorted shed tidy sheep home and in the shed under cover for the morning .We really like Paul shearing the sheep .(he is the world champion ..yes true no joke ) he never cuts them and they are really shorn clean . Plus he has shorn all over the world and can talk rarebreeds .

The Austin Gipsy is still in Dock should be back next week .
Ruth has moved lots of young chickens for meat onto the flats in trailers to finish for March .That's the good time for processing free range chickens - the weather is still good lots of natural food around so are good eating .

I went up north to meet the organic butcher at Robins place and pick up the sausages. Picked up Ross Nolly on the way (Ross is the Photo Artist often at the stall on Sundays ). Dropped off a purebred Euro pig and Robins saw bench, stopped at the beach at Mokou Ross got some photos of long liners catching spotty sharks . So a good trip ,good to see Robin again I must take the family up for a day .

Lots of apples on the ground from the storm and a possum or two are knocking some down as well ,I have worked out these possums are teenage ones as they take a bite out of one apple chuck it away and on to another !! . No worries Samuel is looking for more funding and fur is up .
See ya Sunday. John
