Title: 2 May 2013
Well looking around Avonstour you can see winter is on its way. Some of the willows are losing their leaves along with the Larch trees that are going that lovely golden brown colour. We are seeing more rodents in the buildings as the nights get colder and will have to start trapping them soon.
We have had a few litters of Wessex Euro and crossbred pigs, the timing should be good to sell weaners to the cow farmers who should have colostrum milk in a month or two. May get a bit of well needed cash flow.
Have been shifting Stock over the 100 acres to get some fat on before the cold sets in. The donkeys are busy feeding on the wild barberry, that should get them trimmed up so the Dorset horns have good shelter for lambing that starts mid May as Dorset horns breed 2 times a year.. Also sorting up some stock for the Rarebreed Auction in May.
Ila and Jess are away up north for not a good event a teen suicide an 18 year old girl. I am just lost for words 18. This is becoming a big problem and why.
We went to Karaoke and sung a bit and in the morning went to the Ngamotu Breakfast Toastmasters Club for the second time. I will be joining this week.
Unfortunately Ruth's car is in dock with a blown head gasket and maybe more so that's going to add to the dollar drain. Thank goodness we have the black car to cover.
The market was busy with people but all the stall holders had a low take. You just can't tell how its going to be.
After the market went for a walk on the walkway and at Lake Rotomanu we watched the radio controlled dirt racing cars. Not a bad sport for both young and old. Minimum pollution, there was even an electric one that went all day on one battery.
I have just got in from fixing the pump. You know I have told you before that pump has a spirit of its own, I think she does not think I realise, she is working away down at the well day and night. The minute I put my efforts into something like seeing my accountant, she packs a sad and won't pump and this time she was SO cunning I just could not find the problem. I had to go to town for new parts for her, even had to make her a new bit, and it was not before I had stripped her three times, spent most of the day at her she started to pump strong. I may just pop and see her this morning just to keep it right as we all need water.
So today I'm starting my GST........... Now don't you start I know I'm a week late,.......I have enough problem's with Dalvina 300 me water pump. ...............
