Great news from the pork board they have had the appeal upheld for the hearing in the high court on importing fresh pork from countries with PPPRs the devastating pig disease that will finish the pig industry in NZ.

Ila is still working at Te Kahuri nursery in Kaponga so its been a busy week for me drafting and sorting stock for the rarebreed Auction. Aaron was up to help set up and sort and cart stock. Its great to have a good stockman to help and get the job done.

Ruth was taking her dogs for a walk on the 100 acres  and found a large puff ball I say large as it is over a foot round. Well I have seen big uns but this was BIG and we will be eating it.

So the rarebreed sale was very busy well attended but it was really hard to sell. The NZ pig breeders had their sale before ours and most pedigree pigs were passed in. This I think was due to a few breeders asking unrealistic prices for today's markets. This undermined the positive feel of the pig auction and other breeders sold under meat prices. Its a mad situation and falling right into the hand of the importers of pig meat.
The bidding was hard for the Rarebreeds so we have work to do BUT WE WILL SORT IT.

The Rarebreed Dinner was a hit at the Volcano View restaurant, with myself and Ian Selby giving talks.

Unfortunately the RAIN started and our open day was a wash out. IT was great to see Inger on the farm.

Monday we had more visitors, Mike Willis from Willow Bank Christchurch and John Simister and Sarah from Staglands Wellington, called in and we sat and watched the copy of Rural News that we were on and then had a farm walk.. Great to walk around with like-minded people.

A very busy week and I was planning to have a slow week. But a check of the Answer Phone changed that ....Hi Sandy here
