Title: 14 June 2013
Another busy week at Avonstour, the work load for me is up as I have more Wwoofers on site along with Anton, Johanna and Johannes. We have the couple from Hong Kong and today Eloise from Québec who speaks French, well I say French its nothing like French at all to me. Anyway the test will come next week when we have two French couples starting.. I’m sure they won't understand either. Anyway she is great, a butcher by trade, yes you got it right a butcher. A sort of French speaking woman butcher. Who is not unlike Billy Connelly. She has had Wing, Shing and Myself in fits of laughter. Just a note she is looking for a Kiwi man in the South Island so if you are under 35 into mountain biking snow boarding and want your meat cut up Have I got the woman for you.
Justin has gone home but not before mountain guiding the 3 Germans Wing and Shing up the mountain, well not to the top but up past the first hut, the mountain was very icy and Justin is a very good climber but a very safe one. The photos that came back were fantastic. I called in to see Justin today but he was out. His helper was there who has a real close resemblance to Borat and let me look at the work Justin was doing and the house is begins to look real good with the kitchen started and a good plan of a good strong job. I always like Justin out at the farm as he is so positive about what we do, gets on with Ruth and everyone.
Ila and Jess have been working well this week, water blasting the paths, putting strainer posts in and getting the wool pressed, as well as working on Ila's new Ute. The house looks like a workshop with odd Ute parts drying paint by the fire and paint pots on the table. I have had to have words with her. Ha well at least she is busy at something worth while.
Dee has given me heaps of stuff for Ruth’s building, parts and materials, it has been a great help. Dee is overseas for 3 months and has left me a heap to do toward the next years courses. She's great and knows me well, Yes I know I’m not fast at paper work.
Wally Richards has got me onto coconut oil to help me for next doctors visit unfortunately I was hoping to meet him while he was in Taranaki but I had to go to a meeting in town Maybe next time.
Ruth’s Dog Frill the Beardy has been very sick and has been at the Vet, its not looking good for the dog or the bank balance. O well she has been a very loyal dog. I call her the door bell as no one could get up to the house.
Went to Karaoke with Fi and sung with Aubrey a few songs, had a great time and went to toastmasters and had to talk for table topics on the subject “what is the most desirable thing to have in a new car NOW HOW COULD I BE honest about that Desirable heck ……….So I talked about Ila's new Ute that got me out of it!@!!
On the livestock side the old Euro boar called it a day, those frosts were just too much for the old fella and passed at 18 not too bad for a pig.
The Dorset horns are still lambing and looks like a spread out process but that’s great as I need them on line weekly for sale.
Went out to the Folk house concert with Fi at The Decanter it was really good. Anyone who says there is no NZ music is not looking for it as we have some real gifted musicians here in Taranaki. At the Folk House met Ben Eveny stage name Ben Blake, my good friends son it was good to catch up with him. I have known him just about when he was not.
