Title: 11 February 2011
Its been so hot and humid out here this week. Lots of flies around just about can't work outside in the sun at midday. The pumpkin plants seem to love it and are really running, they are so behind due to lack of rain.
An ordered young Jennie donkey went to her new home. I am very happy with her new owners. I'm positive they will be driving her.
Jamie from the hatchery has been out twice this week. Fixed up the sheep crate, welded more bars around, and yesterday came out and helped fix the sheep yards.
Jamie is a top welder and is teaching Samuel ( I can weld BUT well i don't weld in front of Jamie ..got me own style).
Sorted and carted sheep for the Bach on Breakwater restaurant and the market.
Hung up dog food, sheep and a porker for the house. The house freezer is getting down.
Ruth feeds the dogs and we have the best fed dogs in the valley. Her old cat is missing she is older than Samuel 18 or more so i don't think she will be home.
The big eel Ila got early in the week i smoked along with some perch and made a really good meal with salad from the garden.
Got the yearly tax papers sorted, I do that at night often till 2 in the morning. Anyway done now and dropped at the accountant on the way into New Plymouth for a Farmers Market Trust meeting. Good meeting got some good things sorted.
Spent a night sorting my talk for Saturday at the market at Tupare.
Had the unshorn x bred lambs in the shed to clean a few dags off so the flies don't strike em. Give me a Wiltshire or Damara sheep breed any day none of that.
Had two new litters of pigs - a Euro sow with 7 and a crossbred litter of 15 (product of a night time visit of the large black boar into the euro sows, he just about made it home without me knowing as well - got brains them black pigs).
Patricia, Franziska and two of her children came out picking blackberries with Ruth and Ila. Patricia brought out our organic flour with her - great as we were running short, and i make bread most days. Its my first job to get me started and boy some days i need a starter.
Anyway see Ya SATURDAY at Tupare and Sunday on Currie St.
