Title: 28 November 2013
Well another week and what a season the grass just keeps coming. The smells of the tree flowers are all around the farm, the orange globe, Jasmine and tree strawberry are all in full flower along with all the roses.
We have a new Woofer Hanaoka (Hank for short ) who is Canadian, tall and blond. Very into farming organic and living off the land, gets on with Ila well. Know a bit about mechanics as she done a year course back home .
Cams wearing an interesting Top .........Big letters on the back CYA ..Hay Hank what is this cya about is it your club or something ...Umm No
when i done the Mechanics course we were given them ........Got ya was that the education provider ........Um no... our Tutor gave us all one... it stands for umm shuur
...................cover your ASS ,,,,,Ummmm i think many people should think about that.
You know there are things on the farm that many don't think about, the other day i had a good friend from town call in ...on seeing our bags of Rubbish said why leave them there put em out to get picked up ...This is not the first time this has been said to us .....The facts are we don't get rubbish collection. we sort everything up and what we can burn in the house fire.... paper and the like ...food scraps go to the livestock. We are left with PLASTICS blooming plastics
That we bag up and pay at the Transfer Station ..Yes Pay ..Most farmers just dig a hole but that is not good for the environment ..So we pay ..
You really wonder why we pay all these rates out here, we pump our own water, pay for rubbish, have septic tanks ..........Makes ya wonder .
We have lots of donkey foals and they are doing very well. But the one thing they don't like is Heavy rain and we have been getting a bit of that in fact this week it rained so hard with close thunder and lightning the Makuri stream broke its banks in an hour .
We have also had two real nice Gypsy x foals well marked colts .
We are still getting the odd Dorset horn and Damara lambs out of Hoggets
Another good Friday morning at toastmasters I was evaluating so had to really listen and watch. But you know its all with a smile and i learn heaps every week
The market was busy with People lots from the Tattoo get together. I even seen Robin and Kyren's girl .....Or should i say young lady ...Stood and talked with
Folk Gathering ....wondering were the years have gone .
Well better get moving as I'm off ta Wellington for the Future Farming Conference and I'm late as usual
