Title: 4 February 2014
I was chair at toastmasters my theme was Industrial hemp (well Hemp without hippy and THC ) It went very well. Everyone joined in with great results.
The hot and cold water system is all completed in the Studio. I have it all running of a small tank and have yet to finish the large tank .
But you know nothing runs totally smooth after much swearing i managed to get all the leaks fixed and i was running late and the blooming ball cock broke it the top tank. Took the big crescent and pipe wrench up got it all fixed.... cleaning up i knocked the pipe wrench into the tank and there it lay on the bottom.3 foot out of reach looking up though the clear water ... After near half an hour with a piece of number 8 i managed to get it to the top after many attempts .
Now close to 40 minuets late I drove off to New Plymouth as i was singing at Karaoke and was looking forward to it. Any way Fi and i made it, met Albury there and had a good time it was good to sing after many weeks missed.
On the way up I took some live geese and Wiltshire x ewes to Ying and family in the pig trailer. She asked if we would like to stay for tea. Well what a meal, a huge spread of Chinese food we really enjoyed the food and the company.
We had a Rarebreed conservation Society Phone meeting. Covered heaps. We are having the AGM in Nelson this year and that is going to take some planning. We cover heaps at these meetings and its great to run a meeting were all are pulling in the same Direction .
We also had a Farmers Market Trust meeting as its been harder and harder with the basement alterations and the road being closed all around us each week.
But the machine ripping up the road is one hulk of a machine. Eating up the tar seal and elevating onto a truck like a paddock mower harvesting grass for silage. You know that Currie Street was the first road in Taranaki to get tar seal and the first road to have a farmers market on it and now there is tar seal everywhere.
Ying and Shing invited us to the Chinese new year celebrations at the Sun World Chinese Restaurant on Sunday. It was great as we know a few people that were there. I got there later and unfortunately missed the dragon dance and other activities. Fi said it was well worth seeing .
Managed to get a few sheep shorn and i hope to get a few done this week, Ila helped.
Talking of Ila she is working part time at the Bach restaurant and the rest of the time on the farm. She also has helped heaps with carpentry work and is in fact very good with her hands and building things. She is going to start looking for some sort of apprenticeship maybe a plumber or an electrician.
So if you hear of anything and we do mean anything she really wants to get something under her belt and then maybe come back to the farm.
Must have been the moon or something this week there has been so much gossip told to me WOW i don't know were it comes from and when you hear both sides its often wrong (or should i say totally wrong ). UMM i think this may make a fantastic toastmasters speech. Yes how to manipulate with rubbish. It would go great with my modern manipulation one i have done. Na thinking about it i may put my book on hold and start a new one. Yes this will be a best seller for sure HA.
Ila's dog Abbie, the Kelpie is well in Pup and getting very lazy, wanting food all the time. Ila has cleaned out the stable and made a whelping bed for her complete with pup rails so none get squashed or rolled on. Yes im not sure i want a heap of pups around and Ila will want to keep most of em and she just cant.
Its Hanks last day on the farm we are going to miss her but she will be back with her sisters and mother in a month or so. I will keep all the fixing of vehicles for when she gets back.
We have a new Woofer start today for a week or so Niki from Swede.
