     Title: 25 February 2011
All my friends and associates in Christchurch, we are all thinking of you what more can i say ..im lost for words, its just so unbelievable.............................
The week started with Kama binging the Permaculture course out here, what a great bunch of people.  It was a good day, we did go over time so they were late to Jeremy's.
Next day was the Farmers Market where we not only sold our usual stuff but lots of poultry with Jamie and Cheryl's help.
Monday i had the Mondays bad. The Mondays are a term used by stall holders.  Markets burn you out unlike other work.  But i still had to get sheep and pigs sorted for the abattoir to go for bacon and sausages for the markets and the organic butcher up north.
Have spent a bit of time on the phone with Nardine the lifestyle block magazine editor. The March issue will have a good article on how once very common breeds of pigs are now rare.  We are hoping next issue will have an article on the courses Dee and i are running.  I will keep you posted.
Samuel has been at working bees and practice for chopping.  He is a member of the Taranaki axe men and doing quite well.
We have been pulling foxgloves, one of our worst weeds as nothing eats them and if they do they die.  Also been grubbing thistles where the donkeys don't get them.  It sure shows how much work the donkeys do over most the farm.
All this warm weather has brought lots of flies - more than other years.  Ruth has had fly papers up as we won't use fly spray, seems to keep them at bay.
Ruth has moved the ducks she is finishing - I think they are the best she has ever reared should be ready in 3 weeks.
Mid week was my birthday.  Ila went to a lot of trouble to get me some fresh fish and mussels from the new fish shop in Stratford The Groper, Samuel got me Cider, and Ruth got a bottle of whisky.
Had a meeting in New Plymouth with Dee and Janine about our courses this year.
Have turned all the compost again and some bins are good, others are just to dry but a mix up will do them good.
Im sitting doing this late Thursday as im up at 5 in the morning to do my chores and get on the road with a load of meat to go up north.  Im picking Jamie up on the way and we are going to Auckland after dropping the meat off to get him his new incubator and hatchers etc so we will be late back and this won't get done.
So see ya Sunday.
