     Title: 11 March 2014
Mid march in the year of the family farms

well what weather I just love this time of the year food abundant, Plenty of fruit on the trees & blackberries.

The live stock fat, well fed and happy. When a cold shower is welcome as its warm anyway. Water is always a problem but our well is sound and we have never been out of water bar the times when a tap gets left on or a pipe gets broken on the farm somewhere like it did mid week. This is when i swear about the pump but it is short lived and i soon smile again.

Last week there was some snow on the mountain but this week its all gone. The pineapple sage is in flower and is a great addition to our herbal teas we have with meals, the meals on the farm at this time are pretty much all from the property with great diversity. I'm cooking in my usual hunter gatherer mode of Weston Price food, liver, heart etc with veg from the garden. It is always a challenge as i am Gluten intolerant that is a surprise to many who have known me for years as garbage guts who can eat anything. With Wwoofers cooking as well its great. Aubrey is a great cook and that gives a great mix with Ila and I.

O yes i have been in touch with Vodafone and it looks as if we can get broad band so watch this space and while i'm on E mails and things, I have lost about 100 emails due to the storage on the server (well i think that's what it is) anyway got it sorted after the standard 4 hours on the phone and got sent 1682 emails that closed me down for all of last Monday. With all your emails sent back. So i am sorry if i missed or lost you. UMMM so watch this space we may have a fast line in soon.

Hanika brought her sister, mother and mothers friend to visit for 3 days. It was great to have them here both her mother and sister live in Canada, her mothers friend Gonja from Holland.

Gonja was saying one of her relations is 108 years oldĀ  .....yep and Still Gardening. Gardened for herself for many decades in Holland. Wow now that in itself should get you out there with a spade in your hand.

We all had meals together and it was great to hear how the rest of the world is getting on. I think Hanika will be back April some time.

Ila has been dealing with a few wasp nests as they raid the honey out of the bee hives and start on the fruit on the trees just need a small peck from a bird and in they go..Blooming free loaders ..

Fiona was out for the long weekend and came to the Karaoke competition i sung in. I had heaps of support along with Fiona there was Ila and Regan, Ross and Michelle, Aubrey, Amy along with our south German Wwoofers Fabian and Charlotte. BUT with all the support i still did not get into the finals ..O well my first song Maxwells Silver Hammer (Beatles) went well even though i had the opening song again. But i crashed on my second song, a Kinks number Sunday Afternoon . I even forgot a line and lost key ..umm O well next time.

We have a good team here at the moment and we are getting though the farm work and with Fiona helping me with book work things are getting done . It sure helps as Fiona is an Chartered Accountant and very fast at the work. We even had time to put Hero, the pony into the cart and go for a drive.
