This week the hazelnuts, spruce trees and figs are bursting leaves. No sign of the Barberry yet. The early plums are covered in blossom I hope they set fruit as they will be ready for Christmas. The wattle is starting to flower with their yellow flowers. There is a yellow film on the ponds from the pine pollen. We are in fact getting dry (i will wish i never said that).
One of our horses Marigold has a new foal today, the sire is our Gipsy stallion. The foal is a black colt with a star on its head IT SHOULD BE a black and white filly.
The Geese are laying so we are collecting their eggs for the hatchery as every year they get flooded out.
Yes called in again to Justin and Aleena - the section is getting worked over alright, retaining walls, posts, concrete. Justin cut a trailer load of pohutukawa for the smoke house. I asked him how he cut it all - BY HAND he's a bobcat with a saw attachment.
Samuel cleaned out his bedroom unbelievable his stuff filled the whole house Ruth and i just had to leave him to it. It looks great, tidy and clean.
Ila and i went down to Bulls to pick up a kelpie dog called Bart to mate to Ilas bitch Abby. Bart is so fat i call him Homer anyway after much trying he managed it twice
so maybe Abby is in pup.
Every day i do an hour of scrub cutting, manuka and barberry left behind by the donkeys. Strange really, on one hand im fencing parts of the farm off to grow the stuff and here i am cutting it.
Planted more trees in the food forest, apples from cuttings and seed grown damson plums as well as some yams and yakon from Patricia.
Ila went to the orthodontist Betty and we then went to Subway on Ilas recommendation. She said we were an embarrassment, asking where this came from and where the bacon came from etc. I could have been more embarrassing but kept my mouth shut for the most part as the girl serving had no idea where any of it came from. So we had a salad roll.
