Title: 18 January 2012
Summer summer where is it? Heavy rain and more rain and cold with it. We even had to light the fire one night never done that in January before.
Just before the rain Ross turned up with three fallow deer he had shot with George - one for each of us YES one for us fantastic. You know how we love venison and fallow, well thats the best. So we spent the rest of the day cutting those up and Ross took some home to make cured goodies etc.
And the Rain was at the Market as well slowing the public down along with the take. But no worries with the regulars thanks.
As you know circumstances meant we missed the Tupare Market but we had got sausage pressed and pre-cooked for it. As we can't sell pre-cooked stuff, we have been paying bills with them, giving them to family and eating them. You know there are 101 ways to leave your lover and 101 ways to use a sausage. Keep em in the fridge Midge, cook em on a pan Sam, bake in a pie Kai, have em on bread Fred..... Anyway we had our new pork and plum for the first time in that lot. They are absolutely fantastic, nothing like it, Heritage pork with heritage plum.
Ruth, Ila, Beate and I went into Stratford to watch Red Dog. Ila met her friends and sat at the back that made our group 10. The place was packed we had to queue for the toilet and ice cream in the interlude the other 5 people were so slow .........Yes thats right only 15 all up.
So i have all the traps set trying to catch ferrets and stoats with special dried meat bait, Im doing real well trapped heaps of ...........................Possums Yes Possums with meat bait no ferrets nothing but possums. So thats where all the native bird chicks go! no worries fur is up and so is the overdraft so give me more.
I have been sorting more lambs to send for the Bach restaurant and more ducks are going that way. Talking of banks and overdrafts, if you ever need a monthly clock deal with Barbara at the Bach, Oww it must be the 20th the Bach's cheque is in the mail box. Never missed. So please go down and thank her for me.
Spent a day on book work due to the rain. Done the GST only need another 99 days of rain to catch up.
As you know i never watch TV or read the paper but i do a tremendous amount of reading - about a book or more a week in the winter and about a book every three weeks in the summer. I thought i would add what book im reading each week. Rachel Rose has lent me a book i would never normally read but i've found it interesting. Its the......... Vegetarian MYTH by Lierre Keith.......... .an ex Vegan. I have always respected vegetarians and vegans AND STILL DO but this book has put a different light on things.
