Title: 4 April 2012
Lots has happened this week as usual.
Rachel Rose got away after her 3 day stay, it was great to have her here, not only for her help with farm chores but a look at the place from a different angle from an outside person is good.
Brian from Te Kahuri Nursery came out for more heritage plum tree cuttings, greengage and pollinator plum so better be in for next season.
Ruth and Beate drove out to the dog trials as Beate had never seen it before. She loved it. The blue rocket came home covered in back country dust.
We are getting totally overrun with ducks that Ruth has reared. Everywhere you look is a duck - under the vehicles, in the garden, down at the workshop.
All looking very plump and contented. The pin feather molt has been so slow this year but won't be long.
Went to see Ruth Wyand at Pukengahu, Renee and Rene at Pukengahu Play Skool, for a really good concert with Ruth and Beate. It was good to have a night out with good music
in a place with a great atmosphere with old friends. Ruth Wyand said her home town was just like New Plymouth " a drinking town with a surfing problem".
Beate is still painting and has had a great learning curve, some paints just don't work some places. Anyway her apprenticeship is just about over and she will be starting her own business...............THERAPEUTIC PIG HOUSE PAINTING and SOCIAL .......Wait for the flyer in yer mail box.
Talking of apprentices Samuel was offered two last week, yes two, and he took one at Mercers in Bell Block so im really happy about that.
Ila has been home from school for two days with asthma again. At the weekend Laura came out with her pony and Ila rode Timothy over the hills, they had a great ride, and i hope they
and other friends do more.
Had the Organic Farm AGM meeting at Dee's new house, its looking real good. The meeting was not as good as many are at cross roads for many reasons - Fonterra pulling out of organics,
the closure of the organic cheese factory around the coast, organic diluters, to name a few points.
Ross came out to photograph the shifting of the Shepherd Hut. It is now in position and i need to do a bit of levelling and it will be right for stays - well apart from having to sort a toilet, shower and cooking. Yes i know another 6 months, Stop nagging .....Ha .........This is some of the photos Ross took.
