Title: 20 September 2012
So the sun did come out and we were rushing around doing this and that. We did get a light snow but was quickly gone. But the snow on the mountain.... wow looked fantastic. The peach trees are flowering right on queue and the plums are leafing up. The native pigeons are in the plums and are landing right next to the back door much to the amazement of Archie the dog who can't work them out and just stands and looks at them on the veranda. Talking of pigeons our arcangels have started to nest. I was going to go thru them and maybe do some for eating but it looks like I'm going to miss out for now at least.
Ila has been doing mock exams and takes it very seriously but she is doing well. We do hear from Samuel from time to time but you all know how he is all go.
We called on his friends mother and she said "Did Samuel get his emergency passport for his job in Australia?" Well i had heard nothing of this so i asked Ruth.
She sent him a txt "is mother going to get a post card from Australia" He texts back "Na I'm back". Blooming kids.
We have a fresh litter of Wessex pigs (11) and they are doing well outside despite all the rain. The prem ones Beate is rearing are up and down. Unfortunately one died but the others may make it. Its hard as they are so prem and small, probably half the size of the paddock ones. Beate has had them on goat and cow colostrum and now on goats milk and manuka honey with a hot water bottle all the time. They do drink well. I do know these will probably join our petting zoo for tourists.
Ruth's goats are only just keeping the house in milk along with these pigs so we are not getting those great puddings and goat ice creams she makes. O well can't win em all.
We have been having phone and email meetings for the Rarebreeds Conservation Society. Hopefully we will have alot going on this season so I will keep ya posted.
We all had a night off and went to Stratford on Stage "How to train your husband". It was a very good laugh. Shame we missed the night Ross went as he was dragged up on stage and took over the show.
Sister Pat and husband Rick came down and stayed at Mums... along with Bodie, Ben, Nihau. Samuel and Ila, Beate, Ruth and I went for tea. It was a good night and catch up of us all, we had a few laughs.
The Farmers Market was a good one, a few more stalls and the art market ....The weather held and everyone in a positive mood. Lots of our friends called and talked. We need more days like that.
Talking of Friends - We sure have some good ones. Help has come from all sides this week. I have felt so humble and i find it really hard to take help.
THANK YOU.
